AAdvantage members who have a co-branded Citi MasterCard or American Express card can take advantage of reduced mileage awards. The discounted awards are offered only to cardholders. Select routes and destinations discounted until June 30, 2008 include Monterey, Memphis and New Orleans, and New York to Atlanta, Boston to St. Louis and Denver to Los Angeles. Awards in the U.S. and Canada can be redeemed for as few as 17,500 miles in coach and 37,500 miles in first class — saving 7,500 miles — for Citi Platinum Select MasterCard and Citi Select American Express cardmembers. These same awards are slightly higher for Citi Gold MasterCard and Citi American Express cardmembers — 20,000 for coach and 40,000 for first class. Members can also find some good deals for award travel to international destinations, especially during off-peak travel dates. A roundtrip coach class ticket between New York or Los Angeles and Tokyo is only 42,500 miles off-peak (57,500 miles peak) for Select cardholders, a savings of 7,500 miles, and 45,000 miles off-peak (60,000 miles peak) for Gold, a savings of 5,000 miles.
