On April 1, US Airways will begin charging three separate fees for use of airport lounges by new Dividend Miles members. The carrier says it will lower the rates for use of US Airways lounges in the U.S. and in London Gatwick, but members wishing to use United lounges will be charged an additional fee. Members wishing to use Star Alliance lounges will be charged a still-higher fee.

Dividend Miles members have been able to use both US Airways and United lounges since 2002 as part of the airlines’ alliance. United has no plans to introduce any fees for using either carrier’s lounges.

US Airways spokeswoman Amy Kudwa told the Washington Post that the fees will help improve the Dividend Miles program and facilitate greater access to United’s lounges.
