The Dallas Morning News has reported that Delta may ease up on its recent rules, fees and SkyMiles restrictions.
The paper reported that pressure from low-cost rivals is causing the airline to reexamine its policies to keep or regain the loyalty of business flyers who have moved portions of their business to other carriers.
Since the rules were implemented, the number of passengers at Delta’s Atlanta hub who fly exclusively on Delta has dropped from 75 to 50 percent.
The News mentioned three specific changes being considered. First, nonrefundable tickets would retain their value for at least 90 days. Second, Platinum-level SkyMiles members would receive a much more generous upgrade policy. And finally, Delta would waive service fees for changing nonrefundable tickets in emergency situations.
