As of mid-February, British Airways has installed Connexion by Boeing in First, Club World and World Traveller class cabins on select flights for a three-month trial period. The technology allows broadband Internet access in-flight, allowing passengers to connect from their seats. The trial is currently in progress on select flights between New York JFK and London Heathrow. The upside? Another carrier boldly launches into in-flight Internet (Lufthansa conducted a similar trial two months ago). The downside? One less excuse for not answering email.
In a related development, British Airways has launched baholidays.com, a vacation-planning Web site that allows integrated booking of flights, rental cars, hotels, theater tickets and various excursions. The site offers instant confirmation and electronic, printer-friendly documentation. You’ll also find a number of last-minute travel opportunities and special offers that are only available online.
