American Express Membership Rewards is revving up its awards in celebration of its 10th anniversary. For starters, 1,000,000 points will buy you a three-year lease on a 2001 Ford Mustang Convertible. Other awards include special gift packages from Callaway Golf, a selection of fine watches from Movado, and TVs and DVD players from Toshiba. The program currently includes seven redemption categories: airline, retail, hotel, car rental, land and sea vacations, charities and travel certificates.

Even with these extra awards, it has to be said that the program is still lagging behind Diners Club Club Rewards. With the Diners Club Personal Rewards program, which allows members with a minimum of 100,000 points to suggest their own awards, Diners Club members are limited only by their imagination.
