The promotion is called “20 Minutes or 20,000 Miles.” Twenty thousand miles is what Delta Shuttle flyers will get if it takes them more than 20 minutes to get from check-in to the gate when traveling between Boston or New York and Washington D.C. Of course, we are not suggesting that you crawl from check-in to the gate, but it sure would be nice to get 20,000 bonus miles.
The goal of this promotion is to promote the fact that Delta has worked extremely hard to create ways for you to clear security and make your flight in a reasonable amount of time — something that has turned off many of us on short flights like this (you might call this the ‘Anti-AMTRAK’ bonus). On the off chance that it does take you more than 20 minutes to get from check-in to the gate, add that to the triple miles promotion on Shuttle routes and the bounty could become 23,000 miles. Check in for the first time at a self-service kiosk and you are looking at a potential 24,000 miles.
