As of last month, Hyatt Gold Passport members can no longer redeem their points for a Passport Escape award. Passport Escape awards were valid at Hyatt Hotels & Resorts for standard room accommodations with meals.
There was a five-night award that included five breakfasts as well as three dinners for two people and a complimentary welcome amenity. A similar seven-night award package included seven breakfasts and five dinners for two plus the welcome amenity. Hyatt Gold Passport Concierge on Milepoint explained, “… we had approximately 100 members a year redeem a Passport Escape award, and it does not make sense for us to maintain the training, communication and operational infrastructure needed to support a benefit with such low usage.”
Bottom line: Although this was a unique way to spend points, and the 100 or so members who took advantage of the award will miss it, members can still elect to use their points for dining at Hyatt hotels if they so wish. And as Milepoint member, tommy777, mentioned, “I love the idea behind this award, but it’s just priced bad and not geared towards elites, especially for Diamonds who get free breakfast anyway.”
