Marriott Rewards Platinum members are now entitled to complimentary suite upgrades when staying three or fewer nights at properties in Asia Pacific. For stays longer than three consecutive nights, the hotels may decide whether or not to offer a suite upgrade. The Platinum suite upgrade benefit is offered on a space available basis at JW Marriott, Marriott, Renaissance and Courtyard Hotels in Australia, China, Guam, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. Hotels in Japan and Korea are excluded and may upgrade members to suites at their discretion but are not required to do so.
Complimentary suite upgrades are based on availability at check-in but in some cases, availability is determined later in the day. The complimentary upgrades include most suite types, excluding Presidential Suites, Chairman Suites and other signature suites.
Bottom line: Marriott Rewards elite members in Asia Pacific were often upgraded to suites when they were available, but now the practice is a documented benefit. Visit http://insideflyerus.wpengine.com/link/?7046 to read the announcement.
