The media is atwitter with Twitter’s recent influx of investment cash. Frequent flyers can use Twitter to get up-to-the-second news and sometimes find deals only available for those following the Tweet. Companies are taking different views of Twitter with some being proactive for consumer help while others are using it more as a marketing tool or a simple way to drive traffic to their Web site. One Hilton HHonors member recently got all of her HHonors points back that had been deleted for non-activity through the helpful Hilton person at http://www.twitter/hiltonhhonors

HotelChatter — Another Twitter member tied into a popular Web site. HotelChatter writes about all things hotel related. As they say, “where to stay when you leave.”
MarriottIntl — Marriott Hotels posts member-only deals sometimes before they are made public.
JetBlue — JetBlue not only has information, but the airline will also respond to customer questions. JetBlueCheeps offers last-minute discounted flights.
SPGInsider — Randy Petersen says this is his current favorite. This is the “official voice” of Starwood Preferred Guest with program updates, travel tips and member feedback. Twitted by Carrie, the “SPG Chirper”.
UnitedAirlines — Features “twares”–airfare sales specifically for Twitter and problem resolution.
HyattConcierge — A virtual concierge–use Twitter to ask about your best Hyatt stay options and more, like which restaurant to go to after you arrive.
JDVHotels — Offers special rates and recently introduced, “Mobile Mondays” where you can get special offers at Joie de Vivre Hotels restaurants and spas when you text message “JDV” to 888999.
