Thai Royal Orchid Plus members with a little extra in the baggage department should be pleased to learn that now, when departing from Bangkok on THAI, excess baggage can be paid for using Royal Orchid Plus miles.

Members may use miles for excess luggage beginning at 10 kg. over the usual limit (or, if you’re traveling to the U.S., one extra piece), and in additional increments of 5 kg. up to a maximum of 30 kg.

Simply determine the amount of extra weight you’re bringing, and the miles can be deducted at check-in.

Members may also use miles to pay for the extra luggage of friends or family on their Award Nominee lists, but must be present at check-in to authorize the mileage deduction.

Mileage levels vary. To Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore or Vietnam, get 10 kg. extra for 4,000 miles, and more (in 5 kg. increments) for 2,000 miles; to Bangladesh, Brunei, China (south, excluding Shanghai and Beijing) India, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, 6,000 and 3,000 miles; to China Shanghai, Beijing, Dubai, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Oman or Pakistan, 10,000 and 5,000 miles; to Australia or New Zealand, 15,000 and 7,500 miles; to Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, or the U.K., 20,000 and 10,000 miles; and to the U.S., 25,000 miles.
