As part of that release, the carrier was offering newly enrolled card holders the opportunity to purchase 50-cent flights in the month of February. As might have been expected, the first batch of those flights were scooped up in less than a minute.

Fifty lucky winners snagged roundtrip tickets to Rome for 50 cents plus taxes on the first day of the month-long promotion. Everyone else that tried was met with the Internet equivalent of a busy signal at 50centflights.com, according to the Arizona Republic.
