Destina.ca, a Canadian travel site, is offering something a little different this fall. In addition to the Aeroplan miles members would normally earn on Air Canada, Jazz, Tango by Air Canada and Zip flights, those who book through Destina will also earn one status mile per dollar spent. This offer is good through Dec. 12.

Destina.ca has an exclusive partnership with Aeroplan and awards Aeroplan miles for every purchase made on the site. In addition to the status miles offer, Destina.ca customers earn one mile for every $3 spent on any airline purchase other than the above mentioned airlines, 100 miles for a car rental and 200 miles for a hotel reservation. And, with every fifth purchase, customers receive an additional 500 miles.

If you’ve spent some quality time on Air Canada this year, this may be just the promotion to put you over the top in your pursuit of elite status for 2003. Remember, 18,000 status miles are required for Premier status, 35,000 are needed for Elite and 100,000 are needed for Super Elite.

The offer is only applicable “for a Destina.ca booking where air component includes exclusively Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz, Tango by Air Canada and/or Zip flight segments.” Eligible Air Canada flight numbers are from 1 to 3999, 6000 to 6199 and 7650 to 8999.

To earn the status miles, the person who purchases the tickets and at least one of the travelers must be Aeroplan members. Meaning, of course, that you can purchase tickets for other Aeroplan members (a spouse or child perhaps … wink, wink) and earn status miles for yourself. A maximum of 50,000 status miles will be awarded per Aeroplan member.
