The latest report from the Department of Transportation tracks airline consumer complaints including frequent flyer complaints. Frequent flyer complaints rose from eighth to seventh position from last year for the number of complaints received. Flight problems such as cancellations, delays and missed connections received the most complaints. US Airways received the most complaints from frequent flyers, followed by Delta and United. US Airways also received the most complaints overall (4.82 complaints per 100,000 flights) followed by United with the second most complaints (2.59 per 100,000) and then Delta (2.09 per 100,000). Almost all the airlines listed rose in complaints; even Southwest, the airline that historically ranks low in consumer complaints received more than double the complaints from the previous year’s report; 0.33 complaints per 100,000 flights.
