Marriott is Selling Points with a Weak Bonus Again…

Marriott Bonvoy has announced details of its latest “buy points” promotion. It will run until December 8th, 2021.

Coming hard on the heels of an announcement of a massive devaluation, it’s surprising that Marriott can only be bothered to offer a 45% bonus. An additional 10% discount is available if you pay with a UnionPay card. (unless you are reading this from China, you are unlikely to have one in your wallet…)

Marriott’s most frequent promotion offers a 50% bonus and elite members were recently offered 55%. Therefore, you should definitely ignore this promotion unless you really need some points for an imminent redemption.

However, there is one possible exception…

When You Should Remember This Promotion

If you are already a member of Topcashback, you will know that they regularly offer members an additional $2.50 of cashback when spending at least $10. Click here to be reminded of a recent offer.

More interestingly, Topcashback will occasionally email members offering them a $10 bonus for spending at least $10.

What does this have to do with Marriott Bonvoy? Well… the purchase of Marriott points is processed by Points.com, which is available on the Topcashback website…

So… if you find yourself needing to spend $10 online and you can’t think of anything… you could spend $25 to buy 2,900 points from Marriott Bonvoy.

You would only earn 62 cents of cashback, but you could earn $2.50 or $10 on top. No matter how many Marriott points you have, acquiring 2,900 more points for a net cost of $15-22 is still worth a few minutes of effort…

$15 for New Members of Topcashback

If you are not yet a member of Topcashback, you can earn an additional $15. Simply sign up using this referral link – http://www.topcashback.com/join-us/inside-flyer/ref/craigsowerby – and earn $10 of cashback.

It’s really quite simple to earn $10 of cashback. The number of hotel chains available via Topcashback is impressive – Hilton, IHG, Marriott, Accor, Choice, Best Western, etc. – as well as the major Online Travel Agencies. So even though I am advising you to pass on this Marriott points promotion, it is still well worth signing up to Topcashback today…
