Red Lion R&R Club is rather quietly gutting their loyalty program and very few people have seemed to notice. The announcement on the Red Lion site reads, “We are pleased to announce an exciting evolution of the Red Lion R&R Club loyalty program. Based on member feedback and extensive insights from leading customer loyalty programs, we are transitioning the Red Lion R&R Club to a new dynamic customer recognition program.”
With no fair notice to members, the R&R Club program has ended and members with a minimum of 10,000 points (the amount for a free hotel night) must use their points to reserve and stay for award nights by Nov. 30, 2014, or to use their points in any other way, like gift cards for Costco, GC Incentives or Macy’s by the same date. Members no longer earn points for stays.
The new program will continue to extend a 15 percent discount off the best available rate and will be a recognition program. Beyond that, not much is known. The transition to a new program will occur “in the next few months” and for now elite members will continue to get the same benefits and upgrades as they currently do.
Bottom line: The R&R Club was introduced in 2008 and had a unique pet program wherein members were not charged the normal $20 pet fee and even earned 500 points when staying with a pet.
