Power to PEOPLExpress

PEOPLExpress started operations last month from Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport with service to Boston, Newark and Pittsburgh. Another four destinations, including West Palm Beach, Atlanta, St. Petersburg and New Orleans, will begin this summer.

The low-cost airline will feature an “a la carte” service model, paying extra for pre-assigned seats, priority boarding or upgrades to “Living Large” seats. Fees for checked bags are $20 for the first bag and $25 for the second. Living Large seats are available from $59 per flight segment with exit row seats available for $25 each way. Advance seat assignments are $15 each way, and if you wish to store your carry-on in an overhead bin onboard the flight, it will cost you $25 for each bag per segment (note that that is more expensive than a first checked bag). Beverages are available for purchase to accompany complimentary snacks.

You can learn more about PEOPLExpress and book flights at http://www.flypex.com You can also call (844) 435-9739 to book a flight 8am-8pm Eastern time.

Bottom line: Although PEOPLExpress plans to introduce a frequent flyer program, it will not be launched when the first flights begin. The date for introduction of the program has not been announced.
