If you have longed to redeem points for an award night stay in a safari destination, you may be interested to learn that Protea Hotels, with over 116 locations across South Africa as well as Malawi, Namibia, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, has become the latest brand to join Marriott Rewards.
In 2015, Marriott Rewards members will be able to earn points and miles, enjoy elite benefits and redeem points for stays at all participating Protea Hotels in Africa. At the time of publication, an official start date for members to begin earning points and miles and redeeming points for award nights, had not yet been announced.

Protea Hotels is projected to fully participate in the Marriott Rewards program sometime in 2015, after necessary system upgrades have been completed. Members who complete stays with Protea Hotels prior to its full participation in Marriott Rewards, will not be awarded points, miles or nights retroactively. With the program partnership between Marriott Rewards and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards, members of both programs will be able to earn and redeem points and receive the appropriate elite benefits when Protea Hotels become a fully participating brand in Marriott Rewards.
