American Way magazine has announced the winners of the 10th annual Road Warrior contest. The five finalists flew a combined total of 618,186 miles in 2010, which is enough miles to fly around the Earth nearly 25 times. Or complete roughly one and a half trips from here to the moon. Three of the finalists competed for votes on FlyerTalk and the winner, Neal Gottlieb, partially attributes his success to being the first to request votes from fellow members in the American Airlines forum on FlyerTalk. The second and third place runners up, Claire Luna and Bruce Cacho-Negrete, asked for members’ votes on the online forum nearly a week after Gottlieb. Founder of Three Twins organic ice cream, grand-prize winner Gottlieb won one million American AAdvantage miles, a seven-night vacation for two at The St. Regis Princeville Resort on Kauai and a one-year Admirals Club membership, among other prizes. In next month’s InsideFlyer, we’ll talk with Gottlieb about his contest experience.
