Marriott Rewards recently discontinued its All Inclusive Rewards and members will no longer be able to redeem points to cover the cost of food and drinks at select resorts in the Caribbean, Mexico and Costa Rica for five- or seven-night award stays. All Inclusive Rewards could only be booked in conjunction with an award stay. This change does not effect the Travel Package Rewards where members can redeem points to cover the cost of hotel and air travel.
Bottom line: The All Inclusive Rewards were only offered at a handful of hotels, but Marriott Rewards made the change without giving any advance notice to members. The news came as a surprise to some who were saving up their points to redeem for one of these awards. FlyerTalk member SkiAdcock said it was “very bad form to implement this with no advance warning” and we agree. The program made a concession to members with existing reservations if they redeemed points for a five- or seven-night redemption at participating hotels prior to Oct. 17, 2011, they could still book an All Inclusive Reward by Jan. 17, 2012.
