IHG Priority Club Rewards has raised the cash requirement on their Points & Cash awards from the required amount of points plus $30 to $40. At a Holiday Inn property that normally requires 15,000 points per night, members who choose Points & Cash will now be required to spend 10,000 points plus $40 or 5,000 points plus $60. The points and $60 award category remains the same.

Bottom line: Before this change, points were valued at 5,000 points per $30, regardless of which Points & Cash option members chose. Now 5,000 points are $10 more expensive if you choose the points and $40 redemption, which is essentially a 5,000-point discount off the regular award price. If you have been “buying” points by booking a Points & Cash award and cancelling it, it’s now a better deal to choose the points and $60 redemption.
