UK: Virgin Atlantic Releases Two New Amex Cards

Virgin Atlantic has launched its own credit card with partners American Express and MBNA Europe Bank, enabling card members to earn up to four miles for every pound spent.

Benefits of the Virgin Atlantic American Express credit card are determined by the choice of the White card, which has no annual fee, or the Black card, which has an annual £115 fee and offers members quicker ways to earn miles. All holders must also be members of Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club.

Miles can be redeemed for Virgin Atlantic flights, upgrades, and travel on the Virgin Galactic spacecraft. Maverick CEO Richard Branson points out, “It’s the only credit card that gives you access to space travel.”

The White card earns one mile per pound spent, while the Black card earns two. Double miles are earned on Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays purchases. White card members will receive a bonus of 3,000 miles on first use, while Black card members will earn 6,000. Both cards earn complimentary companion award flights (after £15,000 spent on White and £7,500 spent on Black), as well as Premium Economy upgrades (after £10,000 spent on White and £5,000 spent on Black).
