Hong Kong: Dragonair Launches New Visa Card

Dragonair and DBS Bank have recently announced the launch of an loyalty rewards credit card — the Dragonair Visa — which rewards cardholders with Dragon Points that can be redeemed for award travel on Dragonair.

The card’s launch campaign offers successful applicants a chance to win a “Private Sky Party,” which will be a private flight on a Dragonair aircraft to Bangkok for themselves and a group of their friends, including two nights’ accommodation at a five-star hotel for the entire party.

Cardholders earn one Dragon Point for every HK$1 spent on the card, and 10 Dragon Points per HK$1 spent with a variety of participating restaurants in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing.

Extra points are also awarded for buying flights on Dragonair, and for spending on the card in foreign countries. Members can nominate a “Dragon Currency” to earn 20 percent more points for all card spending in that foreign currency. Ten currencies are currently available as options (including Renminbi, Yen, Baht, and U.S. Dollars).

Members of “The Elite” also earn additional Dragon Points at various multiples depending on their membership tier. Points can then be redeemed for free Dragonair tickets. For example, 90,000 points is enough for a roundtrip ticket to Taipei — equal to HK$9,000 spent at partner restaurants. Dragon Points can also be used for other benefits, such as travel packages with Dragonair, upgrades, and Airport Express roundtrip tickets, among others.

Cardholders also benefit from special discounts and offers at more than 450 partner restaurants and retailers in Hong Kong.

Consumers with an annual income of at least HK$150,000 are eligible to apply for the card. There is no annual fee for the Dragonair Visa card, which is available in Gold and Platinum versions.
