Official Payments Corp. has announced that it has signed an agreement with the Georgia Department of Revenue to process personal income tax payments electronically with a credit or debit card beginning in the first calendar quarter of 2005.

This agreement will enable Georgia citizens to make their balance due and estimated tax payments, and extension payments, with a credit or debit card by visiting www.officialpayments.com or by calling 1-800-2PAY-TAX. Official Payments accepts payments made with a Visa, American Express, Discover or MasterCard.

Official Payments provides electronic payment services for the Internal Revenue Service, 25 states, the District of Columbia and over 1,600 local government clients nationwide.

Official Payments charges citizens a convenience fee for the service. Citizens using credit or debit cards with bonus rewards programs may, depending on their card’s program, earn reward points, airline frequent flyer miles or cash back for paying their taxes and fees.
