American Express is offering Platinum Delta SkyMiles credit card holders the opportunity to earn an additional 10,000 Medallion qualification miles when they reach $25,000 in eligible purchases between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2007. And, if a cardholder reaches $50,000 in purchases in 2007, they will earn another 10,000 Medallion qualification miles. In addition to these new benefits, if you were a Platinum Delta SkyMiles credit cardholder prior to Jan. 1, 2007, and you reach $25,000 in eligible spending between your 2006 and 2007 card renewal dates, you will receive 10,000 Medallion qualification miles as you always have — that’s up to 30,000 Medallion qualification miles towards Medallion status in 2007. After 2007, cardholders will have the opportunity each year to earn 20,000 Medallion qualification miles as long as their eligible spending exceeds $50,000. The Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card also comes with a free companion ticket each year upon renewal which allows your traveling companion to fly for free when you travel within the 48 contiguous states on Delta, Delta Connection or the Delta Shuttle. As always, cardholders earn double miles for every eligible dollar you charge with your card at standalone supermarkets, gas stations, drugstores, Delta Air Lines, home improvement stores, the U.S. Postal Service and when you pay your wireless phone bill with the card.
