Aer Lingus announced that the scheduled launch date for its flights from Manchester, England, to the USA has been delayed by two months. The previous launch date was 29th July 2021, but that has now been moved to  30th September 2021.

“Due to international borders opening later than expected, Aer Lingus (UK) Ltd. is postponing the start of new transatlantic services between Manchester Airport and New York JFK and Orlando.  New services to Barbados will launch as scheduled.

The US routes were due to commence on 29th July.

Aer Lingus (UK) Ltd. remains fully committed to its services from Manchester Airport, and looks forward to launching to New York and Orlando on 30th September, and to Barbados on 20th October.

Aer Lingus is sorry for any inconvenience caused to any of our customers. Our dedicated teams are contacting customers directly and offering a full refund, re-accommodation on an alternative service or the option of a voucher with an additional 10%, for use across the Aer Lingus network over the next five years.”

Bottom line

With the USA still on England’s Travel Amber List, it’s not surprising to see a delay, although pushing the launch date all the way back to the end of September might be a little premature.

This is undoubtedly annoying for anyone affected, but at least quite a lot of notice has been given and the rebooking options seem reasonable.
