Reminder: Hyatt Award Category Changes Effective Jan. 22, 2015

Hyatt Category Changes – BOOK NOW Before the Changes Go Into Effect

Urgent Post-it graphicHyatt Gold Passport announced hotel category changes effective Jan. 22, 2015, with 22 hotels moving up to a higher category while 48 are moving to a lower category — so this is mostly good news for members.

The category amounts will stay the same, only individual hotels will go up or down categories. If you have existing reservations for stays after Jan. 22, and the hotel category is going up on that date, you won’t be charged more. And if you have existing reservations and your hotel category goes down, you’ll get a refund of points. For a full list of the hotels changing category, go HERE.

Book NOW if you have a hotel in mind that will go up in points as of Jan. 22.

INSIDE|Point: One of the hotels going up a category is the Park Hyatt Maldives, Hadahaa, from Category 6 to 7. Understandable, but there are a few Hyatt Gold Passport members who won’t be happy about that. A few more of note include Grand Hyatt Sao Paulo moving from Category 3 to 4, Andaz Amsterdam from Category 5 to 6. Some notable hotels going down a category include Hyatt French Quarter from Category 5 to 4, MGM Grand from Category 5 to 4 and Mandalay Bay from Category 6 to 5.
