Here’s a reminder that starting Oct. 14, 2010, the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express will be implementing some changes. Carrdmembers will receive five night credits toward elite status each year, which means that members will need to stay 20 nights to reach Gold status or 45 nights for Platinum. Another new benefit is that cardmembers will receive a complimentary third night on paid stays of two consecutive nights or more at participating Sheraton hotels and resorts worldwide. To receive the benefit, you must purchase the stay with your Starwood AMEX.

Cardmembers will no longer receive the annual 50 percent off award and the annual membership fee will increase to $65 from the current $45 on Oct. 14, 2010 (the fee is still waived the first year).
