Continental Airlines has introduced new car and hotel awards but the benefit is offered only to Continental Airlines Chase credit or debit cardmembers. Cardmembers can redeem miles or a combination of cash and miles for a hotel room worldwide or a rental car in the U.S. or Canada. A minimum of 10,000 miles is required for cash and mile combinations. When searching for awards, you can sort the results by Best Value, Price, Hotel or Rating. We searched for hotels in London and found 345 options, starting at 10,000 miles per night for a stay at a Days Inn or Holiday Inn Express and 89,700 miles for a room at 51 Buckingham Gate. These awards cannot be canceled or refunded and you won’t get your miles or money back if your travel plans change and you need to cancel your reservations. While some members may want to use their miles for a free night or car rental, you may not even get $.01 per mile when using this option. For example, a night at the JW Marriott Hotel Denver at Cherry Creek was available for 39,180 points and a paid stay for the same night started at $299 per night. Each mile would only be worth around $.007 each when redeeming for a stay in this situation. If you don’t already have a Continental Airlines Chase credit or debit card, you aren’t missing much by not being able to redeem miles for a hotel or car rental.
