Alaska Airlines Illegal Miles

Alaska Airlines Illegal Miles

A lawsuit filed in 2007 by Alaska Airlines against a travel company owner has gone to court and not surprisingly, the U.S. District Court Judge Ronald Leighton has ruled that miles cannot be bought or sold on the secondary market. Brad Carey, owner of Carey Travel Inc., has been banned from selling Alaska Airlines frequent flyer miles and has filed an appeal, but we see little chance that the decision will be reversed. Carey believes that members own their miles and should be allowed to buy, sell or barter them but Alaska Airlines clearly prohibits the buying or selling of miles in its terms and conditions.
