Occasionally, we find gloom and doom stories in the media about frequent flyer programs. Like the report we found on a Seattle TV station’s Web site recently, quoting Steve Danishek, a travel expert: “If they [United, US Airways and American] go bankrupt and they liquidate the carrier, the miles will be worthless.” Danishek warns travelers that if these airlines go into bankruptcy your miles will become worthless. And to protect yourself, he suggests you spend all of your miles now. We, however, don’t buy into the doomsday reports and aren’t cashing in our miles and points based on fear.
