New Delta Bag Fee

New Delta Bag Fee

Most domestic airlines charge bag fees to check bags when flying within the U.S., however, Delta Air Lines is the first U.S.-based airline to charge passengers $50 to check a second bag on flights to international destinations.

Travelers on international Delta Air Lines flights will be charged $50 to check a second bag for travel beginning July 1, 2009. Delta reports it expects to bring in over $100 million in annual revenue with the new fee.

Not everyone will be required to pay the new fee. Elite SkyMiles members, active duty military and passengers in business class and those traveling on full-fare Y class tickets will be exempt from the fee. All travelers can continue to check one bag on international flights for free. For more information, visit http://insideflyerus.wpengine.com/link/?1583
