AMEX Cancelled Cards and Points

AMEX Cancelled Cards and Points

Many American Express cardmembers have seen their cards cancelled because of the credit crunch, or for “risk reasons.” And with the card’s deletion came the deletion of all their Membership Rewards points. But you might be able to get your points back. If the card account that was cancelled was “in good standing,” you have the option to redeem your points within 90 days of the cancellation. If you lost your points more than 90 days ago, contact American Express Membership Rewards customer service to see if you can still get your points back (again, your account must have been “in good standing”–meaning the account was current and the cardmember hasn’t filed for bankruptcy). Each request will be viewed separately.
