OnePass Revises Elite Bonuses

Continental OnePass is amending its decision to reduce elite flight bonuses for all elite members. Effective March 1, 2009, elite members who are also Continental Presidential Plus cardholders will receive an additional 25 percent elite bonus miles on all Continental-operated flights. Last year Continental announced that beginning March 1, 2009, Platinum elite members would earn a 100 percent mileage bonus (instead of 125 percent) and Silver elite members would earn 25 percent (instead of 50 percent) for tickets purchased on or after Nov. 15, 2008. Gold elite members would continue to earn 100 percent bonus miles.

In a post on FlyerTalk, Scott O’Leary, Managing Director Customer Experience, said “When we announced our Elite bonus mile changes last September, the feedback was clear–especially here on FlyerTalk. Thanks to our partnership with Chase, we’ve come up with a solution that makes these extra bonus miles accessible once again.” With the additional bonus miles, Silver elite members will once again earn a 50 percent bonus and Gold and Platinum members will earn a 125 percent bonus.

Elite members will only earn the additional miles if they are cardholders of the Presidential Plus World MasterCard or Presidential Plus World MasterCard for Business. The annual fee for each card is $375 and cardholders also receive benefits such as a Presidents Club Membership, Hyatt Platinum elite status and 2,000 Flex EQMs for every $25,000 spent on the card.

The additional 25 percent elite mileage bonus earned with the card will be added to the elite member’s total OnePass account mileage balance only and will not count toward elite status qualification.
