For those who say that frequent flyer miles have lost their allure, we would like to point out that the American AAdvantage program grew by almost three million members in 2008. And for those who say that the airlines were cutting back so much that no one was able to redeem awards, we’d like to point out that American AAdvantage award redemption was up 13.2 percent in 2008. Yes, award redemption went up, not down. It seems this proves that all the headlines pointing out FFP gloom and doom weren’t basing their information on fact.
