Amtrak Rule Change

Amtrak Rule Change

Rail runners hoping to top up their Amtrak Guest Rewards account at yearend were met with a rule change in the program that states, “A maximum of two roundtrips or four one-way trips, per member, per day will be allowed to earn points under the 100 point minimum per trip rule.” Members will continue to earn two points for every dollar spent on subsequent trips, but the 100-point minimum per trip won’t apply. It looks as though Amtrak got the inspiration for the change from the airlines that have dropped the 500 mile minimum for flights for non-elite customers.
