United Airlines is giving miles to members who donate money to support victims of the recent earthquake that hit the Sichuan province in China, killing tens of thousands of people and leaving nearly five million people homeless. United Airlines Mileage Plus members who donate $50 or more to the China Earthquake Relief Fund through the American Red Cross will earn a one-time bonus of 500 miles. To earn the 500-mile bonus, make a donation to the American Red Cross of at least $50 and email your electronic receipt to [email protected] by Sept. 1, 2008. Your receipt should clearly indicate your name and Mileage Plus number. The United Airlines Foundation has pledged to contribute up to five million miles through this bonus mile offer.

Northwest WorldPerks encourages members to donate to The Salvation Army, which is actively participating in relief efforts and helping victims of the earthquake in China. For every WorldPerks mile donated to The Salvation Army, Northwest will donate one mile, up to a total of one million miles. Members who donate at least $50 to The Salvation Army or other AirCares partner will receive a bonus of 500 WorldPerks miles.
