More Mileage Plan members are booking awards online to avoid shelling out more miles for awards booked through the call center and the program continues to improve online booking to make the process more convenient. Last year, the program added the ability to book stopover and multi-city awards on Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air to its Web site and this month, it unveiled an award calendar for flight awards on Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.

The tool is available at alaskaairlines.com and after choosing a route and dates flexible option, the calendar will display the lowest mileage award available for each day. Saver and Peak award seats, coach and first class seats and award-sale seats for one-way and roundtrip itineraries can all be accessed with the tool. And members can choose a different award-seat type for each way on a roundtrip or click a first class option to view only seats available in first class.

The response from members has been positive so far but they would like Alaska Airlines to add partner award inventory to the online calendar. As one user, Doog, on FlyerTalk.com said in a post, “It’s great to see Alaska adopt a feature that will make finding an award ticket much easier. I’d like to second (third, I guess) the idea of adding partner awards to the calendar, that would be a HUGE plus.”
