Sun Country's Future

A news report in the Minneapolis Star Tribune quotes Sun Country’s chief investor, Tom Petters, “We will continue to grow the airline.” This, even though the airline has lost nearly $27 million over the past four quarters and has not had a full year of profitability since 2003.

The airline’s frequent flyer program, Ufly, was introduced in July and the goal was to enroll 90,000 members within a year but within 45 days, the members exceeded 100,000.

In other news, there are rumors of a possible merger or acquisition by a larger low-cost airline such as AirTran Airways.
