Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and if you have Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles you can surprise your sweetie with a quick getaway instead of chocolate this year. All routes on Alaska Airlines between Washington, Oregon, Idaho or Canada and California are available for 15,000 miles when booking online at alaskaair.com (normally 20,000 miles for online bookings). Mileage Plan members can book flights now for travel between Jan. 7 and Feb. 14, 2008. Award reservations made through the call center are not available at the discounted rate. Sample routes include Los Angeles to Vancouver, Boise to Sacramento and Oakland to Portland. There are no blackout dates but seats are subject to award space availability.

And there’s more good news for Mileage Plan members. As of last month, Mileage Plan members can redeem miles for award travel on partner airlines Air France and KLM. Members have been able to fly these airlines to earn miles since the partnership began, but this is their first opportunity to burn miles for award flights on Air France and KLM.
