Southwest Airlines has announced a “Business Select” product including a new way to search for flights, an “A-list” for the most frequent flyers and a less-restrictive flight award when redeeming more credits.

The new Business Select fare, available for a few extra dollars per flight offers: boarding priority — you will be guaranteed to be in the “A” boarding group; your one-way flights of less than 750 air miles will earn 1.25 credits while flights over 750 miles will earn two credits; and you will be offered a complimentary cocktail.

Of interest to Southwest Rapid Rewards members, you will now be invited to the “A-list” when you have flown 32 flight segments or 16 roundtrips in one year. As an A-list member you will be automatically checked in for your flight 24 hours in advance of departure and will “most likely” receive an A boarding pass, according to a Southwest press release.

Additionally, Rapid Rewards is introducing a “Freedom Award.” Members will now be able to exchange two standard awards for one Freedom Award, free of seat restrictions except for blackout dates around major holidays.
