Delta SkyMiles members have been earning bonus miles when booking flights online since 1997 as an incentive to drive members to book flights through the Web site instead of calling reservations. The original bonus was 1,000 miles, then 500 miles.

Now that more than 750,000 customers visit Delta.com daily, the airline no longer feels the need to entice members to use the Web site for bookings and the bonus has ended, as reported by The Ticket Newsletter.

This bit of bad news can be added to Delta’s other changes such as the airline’s recent increase of several fees: booking a ticket through a reservation agent is $20, up from $10, and a ticket change (date or destination) or booking a SkyMiles award ticket within 20 days of departure is $75, up from $50. Platinum Medallion members are exempt from the following fees: award ticket redemption within 20 days or less, award ticket reissue or redeposit or same-day travel changes.
