Northwest Airlines is the first airline to offer PayPal as a form of payment for airline tickets. The new way to pay for tickets is initially being offered only to WorldPerks members. And WorldPerks members who use PayPal to buy a roundtrip ticket online at nwa.com will earn 500 bonus miles on purchases until Sept. 30, 2007. The bonus mile offer applies to flights on Northwest, Mesaba, Pinnacle or Compass Airlines purchased with PayPal for travel completed by Dec. 31, 2007.
To earn the bonus miles, you must be a U.S. resident and include your WorldPerks number when making reservations. Bonus miles will be given to all passengers with valid WorldPerks numbers in the reservation regardless of who purchases the ticket. PayPal is free and provides users with a safe way to make online payments using debit cards, bank accounts, stored balances or credit cards. PayPal is currently only available as a payment option when buying tickets online and cannot be used for costs that arise from subsequent changes you might make to your reservations. In addition, Southwest Airlines has announced they are adding PayPal as a payment option and we expect other airlines to follow.
