Avis launched a new program for its frequent renters. Preferred members who complete 12 qualifying rentals or 35 qualifying rental days within a calendar year will be automatically enrolled into Avis First. Avis First members will receive a free two-day weekend rental upon activation of membership and will be e-mailed coupons for subsequent two-day weekend rentals after every third qualifying rental, up to eight certificates per year. Rental certificates are valid at participating Avis locations in the United Sates (excluding the New York Metropolitan area), Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S Virgin Islands. Avis First members will also receive Continued Preferred Service allowing them to skip lines and go directly to their vehicle, free upgrades when available, access to a members-only Web site, which tracks rental and award redemption activity and features exclusive offers; and a dedicated reservation number and customer care department.
