Currently, members of Amtrak Guest Rewards cannot apply for a co-branded credit card because the Bank of America card has been discontinued; however, a new co-branded Amtrak World MasterCard issued by Chase is set to launch in August or September. Amtrak Guest Rewards members who are interested in applying for the card can pre-register for the card via the Amtrak Web site or member service center at (800) 307-5000, option 2. When members use code 42507, they will receive an e-mail when Amtrak is ready to accept credit card applications, that will qualify them to earn 5,000 points once their application is approved and their card is activated within 30 days. The card features no annual fee (unlike the first year only fee waiver offered by many co-branded cards), two points per dollar spent on Amtrak and one point per dollar spent elsewhere. The 5,000 points could be used for travel on Amtrak starting at 1,000 points or other awards such as transferring the points for 5,000 Midwest Miles or Continental OnePass miles.
