We love these kinds of promotions. Members of Delta SkyMiles can earn up to 25,000 bonus miles when using the program’s partners. Register between now and May 31, 2007, and you can earn 5,000 bonus miles for each five unique SkyMiles partners you do business with (one activity per partner). Activities such as staying at a hotel, renting a car, eating at a restaurant, enjoying a cup of coffee and shopping online can net you an additional 5,000 bonus miles. Converting partner points into Delta miles as well as buying miles for yourself count toward your five partner transactions. A sample scenario to earn 5,000 bonus miles could go like this:

1 — Buy a cup of coffee with your Delta SkyMiles credit card = $2 (or buy something small at a drugstore so you can get your usual double miles for the purchase)

2 — Go to http://www.skymilesshopping.com and purchase men’s socks through Nordstrom = $15 (plus earn triple miles with current promotion)

3 — Have dinner at a SkyMiles dining partner restaurant = $50.

4 — Stay at a Choice Hotels International hotel for one night = $70 (plus earn triple miles for a second stay before April 30, 2007)

5 — Convert 1,000 Diners Club Rewards points into 1,000 Delta miles = $0.

If you add this all up, the out-of-pocket dollar amount would be $137, but many of these activities are expenses you would normally incur. The trick here will be finding enough “unique” SkyMiles partners to earn the 25,000 miles. It will pay to check out the fine print for this promotion. For example, staying at several different hotels within the same hotel family will not get you miles for each hotel, but staying at a different hotel family will be considered “unique” — such as staying at a Choice Hotel one night and a Hilton the next.
