AAdvantage Elite

AAdvantage Elite

For those elite members who did not requalify, AAdvantage is once again offering a way for members to renew their AAdvantage Platinum or AAdvantage Gold membership for a one-time fee, extending your status through Feb. 29, 2008. Two-tiered pricing is offered. Platinum members who earned at least 40,000 elite qualifying miles (or 48 segments) and Gold members who earned at least 20,000 elite qualifying miles (or 24 segments) during 2006 qualify for lower prices: $499 for Platinum or $299 for Gold. If you did not reach the mileage levels listed above, you may still retain your status, but at a higher cost: $599 for Platinum or $399 for Gold. Members who extended their elite-level membership through the similar offer last year are not eligible to extend their membership again this year. This special offer is available until April 30 to elite members who did not requalify (and who flew at least one elite qualifying segment in 2006).

Editor’s note: Weigh carefully whether the cost of extending the membership is worth it. If you had an off year in 2006, but plan to be back in the skies full force in 2007, this might be just what you were hoping for.
