After 66 years of service, the government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago which has a 97.188% share in the airlines, has decided to dissolve BWIA and create a new regional airline called Caribbean Airlines. Based in Trinidad, the new airline will honor all tickets purchased for travel on BWIA. All BWEE frequent flyer miles and Club BWEE memberships will transfer to the new airline. What we don’t know yet is if members will remain whole with their rewards and if the new airline will have a very “rewarding” frequent flyer program.
