HawaiianMiles Upgrades Charity Program

HawaiianMiles Upgrades Charity Program

Hawaiian Airlines has enhanced its community giving program by allowing HawaiianMiles members to earn miles for a favored charity — without giving up any miles of their own.

Called HawaiianMiles Charities, the program provides participating members with a special charity account from which Hawaiian will automatically donate 10 percent of all miles they earn to their preferred HawaiianMiles charity. No miles are deducted from members’ personal accounts.

The miles to donate can add up quickly. Each roundtrip flight aboard Hawaiian between Hawaii and the West Coast earns members a minimum 5,000 miles, and at least 500 miles for charity. Each interisland roundtrip earns members 1,000 miles, and 100 miles for charity.

Eight nonprofit organizations are being supported by HawaiianMiles Charities: American Red Cross; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu; Blood Bank of Hawaii; Friends of Hokule’a and Hawai’iloa; Hawaii Public Radio; HUGS (Help, Understanding & Group Support); National Kidney Foundation of Hawai’i; and Visitor Aloha Society of Hawai’i.

By participating in the program, HawaiianMiles members help nonprofits alleviate travel costs and stretch their budgets on behalf of community members depending on their services.

Members also have the option of donating miles from their personal accounts to a participating HawaiianMiles charity.
