As we had previously warned readers of, members of the TWA Aviators program will no longer be permitted to transfer points from the American Express Membership Rewards program into TWA Aviators miles after July 3, 2001. This was the expected result of the recent acquisition of TWA by American Airlines. Now, is this a big deal? Well, considering that many members of the TWA Aviators program used American Express as their credit card of choice, it means you’ll either have to get used to Citibank and the AAdvantage MasterCard or use your Membership Rewards another way. If you don’t take action to move whatever miles you think you need into TWA before July 3, then you will have lost your option to have those points become miles in your main program. We’ll have more advice as we get closer to the July 3rd deadline, but it’s definitely something you want to think about.
