Mileage Plus is on the hunt for premium members, and the program is awarding up to 40,000 miles to existing members who assist in the cause.
All you have to do to earn the miles is refer four people to the program who will be flying transatlantic before April 30. A brochure included with the Mileage Plus newsletter contains four temporary membership cards. Fill these out and send them to the International Service Center before March 30 to complete the referral process. Both the referees and the existing member will earn 2,500 bonus miles for an economy ticket, 5,000 bonus miles for a business-class ticket and 10,000 bonus miles for a first class ticket. Only transatlantic flights count and travel must be in any of the following fare classes: F, C, B, M or H.

Still with United, Mileage Plus members are being offered a unique opportunity to spend some quality time in Nimmo Bay — a wilderness paradise located in Canada’s Pacific Northwest. To earn a vacation in this reclusive resort, which can only be reached by helicopter, members must either submit a winning bid in the latest Mileage Plus auction, or earn an entry into a drawing by signing up for email from United.
Seven winners will be selected and each winner can bring along one guest for a four day/four night vacation from Aug. 22 to Aug. 26. Nimmo Bay caters to a maximum of 18 guests at any one time, so with 14 of the 18 guests being Mileage Plus members there should be a fertile supply of dinner conversation. Guests will stay in a private, full-service log cabin perched above the tidewater. The cabins are steps away from a hot tub at the foot of a glacial waterfall. Guides will whisk you from one fishing spot to the next, carrying and preparing your gear. When you catch a fish, your guide will be on hand to provide photographic proof before releasing the fish.
If fishing isn’t your cup of tea, you can also take a helicopter tour of the area, hike through old-growth forest, explore local caves and kayak.

Any miles bid will be committed during the auction period and may not be used for redemption purposes during this time.
